Kiku Pukk Härenstam

Kiku Pukk Härenstam MD, PhD is a paediatrician and works as an attending physician at the Pediatric Emergency Department at Astrid Lindgrens Children’s Hospital, Karolinska University Hospital.  She is research director and senior instructor at the Pediatric Centre for Advanced Medical Simulation and Training and in charge of the hospital wide Crew Resource Management program. Kiku is a Vinnvård Fellow, a carrier development program for Improvement researchers, where she was also part of the faculty together with Professor Bill Lucas and Professor Paul Batalden.  Kiku is a patient safety expert at the National board of health and welfare and is head of the delegation for Quality and Safety at the Swedish Medical Association.

She is senior researcher at the department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics at the Karolinska Institute. She works as an embedded researcher focused on understanding work- as-done in at hospital level coordination and in trauma, emergency and perioperative environments, promoting safety culture and designing and evaluating safer work practices in clinical settings.
