Julie K Johnson, MSPH, PhD is a Professor in the Department of Surgery and the Center for Healthcare Studies at Northwestern University. Her career interests involve building a series of collaborative relationships to improve the quality and safety of health care through teaching, research, and clinical improvement. She uses qualitative methods to study processes of care with the ultimate goal of translating theory into practice while generating new knowledge about the best models for improvement. Dr. Johnson has a master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina and a PhD in evaluative clinical sciences from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. As a teacher, Dr. Johnson has a special interest in developing and using serious games as a way to engage learners around important concepts related to understanding and improving the quality and safety of healthcare.
