House of hearts, in Swedish called Hjärtats hus, is a meeting place for people with long-term illness , for people who have or have had cancer, for close relatives and friends. The unique thing about our meeting places is that there are always volunteers on site who have experience with the same diagnoses. It creates meetings where you get a great understanding of each other and support, both socially, emotionally and even physically. House of hearts started its operations from a patient perspective, first in Jönköping in 2016. Today, House of hearts is located in four locations in Region Jönköping County. From the start, the focus was on those who have or have had cancer. During the autumn of 2021 we expanded to also invite citizens with other long-term illnesses. We also wish relatives and other relative parties to come to us, because we know that they are in a hard situation, often during a long time, to be just relative including all that it entails.
