Its challenge, not damage but it still needs attention - navigating the "staff soup" of reactions to the Covid pandemic

Everyone working in health services during Covid has been challenged in many different ways. There have also been different views as to what the impact of this is – is it traumatising, damaging, or simply challenging? How do we work out how to support our staff in meaningful ways? This presentation shares the experiences and learning of a psychology service working in the NHS in Scotland about how to understand and support fellow colleagues who like them are tired, worried, and impacted by Covid. We share our experiences in staff support and what we have been asked to do, as well as the interventions we have developed which we hope have been helpful. These include psychological first aid, cold debriefs and a compassionate wellbeing workshop. We ask together how we process what we have been through in a meaningful way for individuals and organisations.
